A prosecutor is today due to open the case against a man accused of attempted murder.Marico Bassett, 21, is alleged to have shot Randolph Lightbourne in Sandys last July 23.He is charged with attempted murder and using a firearm to commit attempted murder, and denies both charges.A jury of five men and seven women was selected to hear the trial yesterday; Chief Justice Richard Ground then adjourned the hearing due to legal arguments.Prosecutor Susan Mulligan is due to deliver her opening speech this morning. Mr Bassett is represented by defence lawyer Marc Daniels.
