A man has admitted breaking into his neighbour’s home while armed with a stun gun and attacking him.Erskine Phillips, 33, of Middle Town Lane, Pembroke, pleaded guilty to burgling neighbour Wayne Wales’ home on June 20 and causing Mr Wales actual bodily harm. He also admitted being armed with a stun gun.According to reports at the time, an unnamed male occupant of the home confronted Phillips after he broke in the early hours of the morning. The men struggled and the occupant knocked Phillips unconscious and removed the mask he was wearing, to reveal he was the next-door neighbour.Phillips ended up in a critical condition in the intensive care unit as a result of the confrontation. A female relative of the affected residents, who did not want her name printed, told this newspaper her adult daughter and the daughter’s young sons were in the home during the attack. Phillips was said by the relative to have been armed with masking tape, a knife, condoms and gloves in addition to the Taser when he was confronted.Prosecutor Cindy Clarke did not give any details about the circumstances of the crime when Phillips pleaded guilty yesterday. He had initially been charged with the more serious crime of aggravated burglary.Defence lawyer Charles Richardson asked for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.Puisne Judge Carlisle Greaves remanded Phillips into custody, and ordered him to return to court on December 1 when a sentencing date will be fixed.
