Motorist banned from the roads and fined for impaired driving
A Hamilton Parish man was banned from the road for a year after crashing into a wall yesterday morning.Malcolm Taylor appeared in Magistrates’ Court less than nine hours after his arrest, with a bandage to his right hand. The 48-year-old pleaded guilty to driving while impaired.Crown counsel Nicole Smith said police on mobile patrol on Middle Road in Smith’s came across a single-vehicle accident near Jennings Road around 1.10am. They found Taylor lying in the Eastbound lane, bleeding from his hand. It appeared as though his motorcycle had struck a nearby wall.The officers quickly noticed Taylor smelled strongly of alcohol and his voice was slurred and unintelligible. Yesterday, he apologised to the court for wasting its time.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined him $1,000 and banned him from driving all vehicles for one year.
