Prosecutors drop charges against man accused of threatening behaviour
A man recently convicted of hitting a teenager with a saucepan saw a separate case involving knife and trespassing allegations dropped by prosecutors.Jerry Troy Eastmond-Williams was alleged to have possessed an offensive weapon in public, in the form of a fishing bait knife, behaved in a threatening manner to Mike Shaw and trespassed at the Waterfront Marina complex. The incidents were alleged to have taken place on November 30 2010. Mr Eastmond-Williams, 47, of Derwent Lane, Devonshire, elected to have a trial before a judge and jury at Supreme Court rather than be dealt with at Magistrates’ Court. He was due to stand trial on Monday, December 12, but prosecutor Nicole Smith yesterday applied to the Supreme Court to have the case against him halted.Puisne Judge Charles-Etta Simmons warned Eastmond-Williams that the Crown can restart proceedings against him in future if it wishes. He remains in custody awaiting sentence on Tuesday, December 13, after being convicted in October of hitting his girlfriend’s son in the head with a saucepan.
