Gold chain snatcher given probation

A teenager was given a two-year probation order after admitting snatching a $175 chain from a 15-year-old boy.Taaj Muhammad, 16, from St George’s, had pleaded guilty to robbing the jewellery from Ty-Rique Berkeley on September 24, shouting an obscenity as he told the victim it was “payday”.He had denied the prosecution’s allegation that he threatened the teenager with a pistol.Senior Magistrate Archibald handed Muhammad a 24-month probation order at a sentencing hearing last Thursday.
