Teen burglar stole goods worth $9,000
A teenager yesterday admitted stealing more than $9,000 worth of jewellery, electronic equipment and alcohol in a string of burglaries in Southampton.Tahva Virgil, 17, broke into two homes in Turtle Place and a third in Riviera Road on Friday, December 2; he pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary and a fourth count of possessing a crowbar.Following a brief appearance in Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Virgil, of Riviera Road, was remanded into custody and will be sentenced next Tuesday.From the first property, he stole a laptop, web camera, Wii console and equipment, seven gold charms, two pearl necklaces, two gold rope chains, gold ID bracelet, gold chain, heart-shaped charm, wallet containing credit cards and four bottles of Breezer.He stole a jewellery box containing jewellery from the second property, as well as a gold necklace and pendant and flatscreen TV.And from the third he stole two gold chains with pendants, silver chain with two medallions, Blackberry, five bottles of wine and two knives.The total value of the goods was $9,492.Virgil was accused along with Tahj Robinson, 18, of Spice Hill Road, Warwick. Robinson has pleaded not guilty to all four charges and is also remanded in custody.
