Bermudian mother to go on trial next month in Florida
The mother of tug-of-love teen Jasai Burrows is to face trial in Florida next month on child abduction charges.Kim Sakena Swan allegedly snatched her son and disappeared with him at a Florida courthouse last May.The court hearing was supposed to effect the return of the boyi, now aged 14, to his father Giovanni Burrows in Bermuda.Mr Burrows had been granted full custody of the boy in 2001 but Ms Swan, a Bermudian, fled the Island with him in 2003.Mr Burrows had been fighting for eight years to get his son back before the court proceedings last May.Ms Swan, 40, was finally tracked down by US law enforcers in February 2012 and arrested in Jacksonville, Florida.She has since been charged with removing a minor from the state of Florida during custody proceedings.She denies the allegation.According to court documents, her trial has been fixed for May 23 at the Pinellas County circuit court in Florida.
