A 29-year-old Paget man was ordered to stay away from his child’s mother in Magistrates’ Court yesterday, after he denied assaulting her and stealing her cellphone and necklace.Frederick Swan who was represented by lawyer Larry Mussenden elected a trial in the lower courts. He denied that he assaulted Shanelle Burt, on April 22 in Pembroke. Smith also denied stealing her BlackBerry cellphone and necklace on the same day.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released the defendant on $2,000 bail with one surety and set the case down for trial on August 29, with orders not to interfere with the complainant.
