Man in court on two attempted murder charges
An alleged gunman was remanded in custody yesterday after he was charged with attempting to kill two men.Cervio Cox, 28, from Clarendon Road, Hamilton Parish, was charged with the attempted murder of Lavon Thomas and Darren Thomas in an incident on March 24 outside Shine’s music club on Reid Street.He is further charged with two counts of using a firearm to commit an indictable offence, namely attempted murder, on the same date.Mr Cox, who was represented by lawyer Charles Richardson, remained silent throughout proceedings. Because the matter must be heard by Supreme Court, Mr Cox was not required to enter a plea.Twenty-three-year-old Devon Hewey, of Palmetto Road, Pembroke, has already been charged in connection with the same incident and pleaded not guilty. It is expected that prosecutors will attempt to combine the matters.There were no injuries reported in the incident, but windows in Seon Place were shot out.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded Mr Cox, ordering him to return to court this afternoon for a preliminary inquiry.
