Man racked up 15 thefts and burglaries in one month
A prolific criminal admitted to a one-man crime spree, racking up 15 thefts and burglaries in just a month.Jamiko Bean, 30, confronted tourists and homeowners during burglaries, shoplifted from a string of stores and stole motorbikes.He even took certificates belonging to young children from a nursery school and frozen fish from the freezer of the Fairmont Hamilton Princess hotel.Magistrates' Court heard today that he began his Island-wide crime wave on May 16 and continued until he was finally arrested on June 15. At that point he is alleged to have assaulted police officers and violently resisted arrest, which he denies.Bean, of no fixed abode, admitted 11 crimes and asked for four more to be taken into consideration. Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded him into custody until July 24 when he will be sentenced. Meanwhile he will stand trial on October 3 on the allegations of assaulting police and resisting arrest.
