A man who crashed an unlicensed and uninsured motorcycle into a police car while drunk has been banned from the road.Dominique Daniels, 20, from Pembroke, pleaded guilty to driving on Court Street while impaired by alcohol following a collision on Saturday.Magistrates’ Court heard that at around 9.55pm, officers were on patrol on Court Street when they noticed a Honda Scoopy travelling at high speed along Angle Street against the flow of traffic.Police then saw the vehicle make a sudden turn onto Court Street, striking the police car and sending the rider to the ground. The officers stepped out of the car to help Daniels, and noticed that his breath smelled of alcohol. They subsequently arrested him on suspicion of driving while impaired.During their investigation, the officers also discovered that the vehicle Daniels was riding was not properly licensed or insured. While Daniels pleaded guilty to all three offences, he told the court the police car had actually struck him.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined Daniels $800 for driving while impaired, banning him from driving all vehicles for 12 months. He further fined Daniels $1,000 for driving an uninsured vehicle and $250 for the vehicle being unlicensed.
