A Hamilton Parish man who swallowed marijuana to prevent being arrested for drug possession was fined $800.Yukinno Goater was stopped by police while driving in St David’s on May 25.Officers noticed “a fresh aroma of cannabis”.The 30-year-old appeared to place plant material in his mouth as they approached the vehicle.The officers asked him to open his mouth however the Sleepy Hollow Drive resident refused, and seemed to swallow.He then opened his mouth and police noticed traces of plant material on his teeth.When officers asked Goater what he had swallowed, he replied “marijuana”.He pleaded guilty before Senior Magistrate Archie Warner, and was fined.
