A Southampton man caught with cannabis was fined $800 in Magistrates’ Court.Y-Ron Astwood, of Middle Road, was a pillion passenger on a motorcycle on November 12 when it was stopped by police on Frog Lane, Devonshire at around 10.50pm.Officers found a clear bag containing plantlike material and a paper package also containing plantlike material in Astwood’s jacket pocket.The plantlike material was later found to be cannabis.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner ordered Astwood, who has previous cannabis convictions, to pay the fine by September 13.
