Duo who deny shooting man dead are among defendants at arraignments session

Two men have denied shooting father-of-one Randy Robinson dead.Jay Dill, 23, and Devon Hewey, 24, are accused of the premeditated murder of Mr Robinson and using a firearm to commit the crime.Mr Robinson, 22, was killed on Border Lane North, Devonshire, on March 31, 2011.The pair pleaded not guilty at Supreme Court yesterday.Puisne Judge Carlisle Greaves set their trial date for January 28 next year and they were remanded into custody.In another case during the monthly arraignments session yesterday, Kyle Smith, 30, from Warwick, admitted threatening to murder Kendra Rogers, also 30.He is alleged to have made the threat via a text message sent on January 1, 2010.Mr Smith must return to court on October 1 for his sentence date to be set, and was bailed until then.Meanwhile, Andre Blackstock, 25, from Smith’s, and Kenton Butterfield-Smith, 24, from Paget, pleaded not guilty to conspiring together with others not before the court to import cannabis. The crime is said by prosecutors to have been committed between an unknown date and April 20, 2011.Their trial date was fixed for February 4, 2013, and they were bailed until then.Jane Carmichael, 52, from Hazelhurst, Georgia, denied conspiring with others not before the court to import cocaine between an unknown date and May 5, 2012.She also pleaded not guilty to possessing cocaine with intent to supply on the same date.Ms Carmichael was remanded into custody and a trial date was set for January 14, 2013.Dunavin Nesbitt, 49, of Pembroke, denied a charge of arson. He is accused of setting fire to a mattress at a residence in Orchard Grove, Pembroke on February 8.The defendant, whose address is listed on court documents as being in Orchard Grove, had his trial set for December 3.Rashaun Codrington, 16, who denies murdering 18-year-old Malcolm Outerbridge on October 28, 2011 in Warwick has secured legal aid, according to his lawyer Charles Richardson.The case had been delayed due to a delay in obtaining the aid. His trial date was fixed for February 18, 2013 and Mr Codrington was remanded into custody until then.Devon Hewey, 23, and Cervio Cox, 29, of Warwick, denied two attempted murder charges in relation to a shooting on Reid Street on March 24. The pair are accused of attempting to kill Lavon Thomas and Darren Thompson, and using a firearm to commit those offences.Julian Washington, 23, of Pembroke, was charged in connection with the same alleged crime on August 27. Mr Washington’s defence lawyer Larry Mussenden said yesterday that he was not in a position to enter a plea yet because he is waiting for some documents relating to the case.The case was adjourned until September 20 when all three defendants must return to court for another hearing.
