Cricketer Ricardo Brangman Jr, 32, has been banned from the road for a year after refusing to give police a breath sample.Magistrates’ Court heard that the Devonshire resident was stopped on Parsons Road, Pembroke, at 8.50pm on December 1, after police at the junction with Union Street noticed his helmet was improperly fastened.Asked if he had been drinking, Brangman told police he’d had “one shot and a Guinness”. After being detained, he was alleged to have said: “You’re arresting the wrong people — that’s why no one likes you.” He refused to provide breath for a sample.His cycle was found to be uninsured and unlicensed.Brangman, a prominent player with Willow Cuts cricket team, denied driving while impaired but admitted the other offences.He was fined $100 for a driving with an improperly fastened helmet, $250 for the unlicensed motorcycle, and $500 for having no third party insurance. Failing to comply with a demand for breath got him fined a further $800 by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner, and banned from the roads for 12 months.
