Man admits heroin possession

A Smith’s man caught with heroin on Court Street told Magistrates’ Court he was struggling to overcome addiction.Neiko Burchall admitted to possessing 0.02g of diamorphine on January 30.The court heard that police conducting a stop and search found the drugs in Burchall’s pocket.After his arrest, he told police: “I’m guilty — I don’t need a lawyer.”Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner ordered reports on Burchall, and adjourned his sentencing until July 11. He was granted bail of $1,000.
