A 51-year-old Hamilton Parish man appeared in Magistrates’ Court charged with theft of credit balance and senior abuse.Xavier Douglas, of My Lord’s Bay, was charged with allegedly stealing a credit balance of $70,000 from an elderly couple’s bank account. Crown Counsel Cindy Clarke told the court the event happened September 21, 2012. For legal reasons, the elderly couple cannot be named.Douglas was not required to enter a plea as the matter will be heard in Supreme Court.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner adjourned the matter until July 31 and was handed $5,000 bail with one surety.
