A Southampton man was this morning charged with two counts of sexually expoiting a five-year-old girl.

The 54-year-old defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was not required to enter a plea because the matter has been sent to the Supreme Court for trial.

Both charges are said to be related to an incident which occurred on August 31 in Southampton.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded the defendant into custody until next week, when the matter is expected to return to Magistrates’ Court to be mentioned.
