A 41-year-old man lied to police that his motorcycle had been stolen after he loaned it to a friend.
William Bascome, of Warwick, reported the vehicle missing on July 19.
He pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court this morning to filing a false report alleging someone had committed an offence.
Bascome said he had loaned the bike to a Pembroke man, David Baker, who was stopped by police while riding the vehicle and ran off because he was disqualified.
The bike was then impounded.
Bascome said he would never have loaned the bike had he known his friend was off the road at the time.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined him $1,000, to be paid in 30 days.
