Woman charged with having proceeds of crime
A Pembroke woman appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning charged with possessing more than $100,000 in illegitimately earned money.
Laurell Steede, 39, was charged with possessing $100,251.35, representing wholly, or in part, the proceeds of illegal activity, between January 2007 and July 2009.
Ms Steede, who remained silent throughout proceedings, was not required to enter a plea because the charge will be sent to the Supreme Court.
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo released her on $15,000 bail with a like surety, ordering that the matter return to court next month to be mentioned.
