A 25-year-old man was remanded into custody after he pleaded guilty to unlawful assaulting a woman and doing her bodily harm when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Jared Gordon, of Sound View Road, Sandys, admitted assaulting Damaia Dunkely, on January 23 in Pembroke.

The court heard that Gordon choked, headbutted and threw Ms Dunkley against a wall, causing her substantial bruising.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo said: “This was a ruthless assault on a female.”

Mr Tokunbo remanded Gordon into custody and ordered a social inquiry report.

Sentencing was adjourned to March 4.
