Man accused of having drug equipment
A Pembroke man was bailed after he denied obstructing a police officer and possessing a makeshift pipe that was fit and intended for the misuse of a controlled drug when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning.
Chesterfield Johnson, 63, allegedly committed the offences in Pembroke on June 30 last year.
Senior Magistrate Juan Wolffe granted $1,000 bail and set a trial date for May 28.
• Also in court today, a Sandys man was given a 12-month conditional discharge for cannabis possession.
Jeremiah Rumley, 39, pleaded guilty to possessing 2.15 grams of the controlled drug in Sandys on September 15 at a previous court appearance on January 15.
In court today, Mr Wolffe gave Rumley a 12-month conditional discharge on the condition that he observe Drug Treatment Court, submit to random drug testing and refrain from the use of all illicit substances.
• In a separate matter, a Warwick teenager was remanded into custody after he denied unlawfully assaulting a woman.
Meshach Crichton, 16, allegedly committed the offence in Paget on June 14 last year. The matter was adjourned for mention to March 17.
