Man faces 15-year-old GBH charge
A 56-year-old man of no fixed abode has been charged for a grievous bodily harm offence that was said to have taken place 15 years ago.
Kenneth Dyer, formerly of Southampton, said that he left the Island “18 or 19 years ago”, to which Senior Magistrate Juan Wolffe replied “the numbers don’t compute”.
Mr Dyer pleaded not guilty to causing grievous bodily harm to his wife Jasmine Dyer on March 7, 2000.
Prosecutor Cindy Clarke said that she had set the original mention date that Mr Dyer never turned up to.
Mr Dyer returned to the Island last Friday but had not yet found accommodation.
The court must ascertain whether the complainant still wishes to proceed with the charge.
Mr Dyer was released on bail of $2,000 with one like surety and must report to Hamilton Police Station twice a week. He returns to court for mention on March 23.
Mr Dyer was also ordered to pay a speeding fine of $225 that he received in June 2000. He was ordered to pay the full amount, also on March 23.
