A St George’s man was bailed in Magistrates’ Court this morning after he admitted possessing cannabis and drug equipment.

Garry Augustus, 39, pleaded guilty to having 9.33 grams of the drug and three grinders in his possession in St George’s on April 7 last year.

The court heard that the drugs and one grinder were found on Augustus’ person after police officers were dispatched to a road traffic collision on South Road, St George’s.

Prosecutor Loxly Ricketts added that a second grinder was found in the defendant’s car and a third was recovered after officers searched Augustus’ residence.

Mr Ricketts said that all three grinders had traces of cannabis on them.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted $1,500 bail and ordered a social inquiry report and a drug assessment.

He adjourned the matter to May 19 for sentencing.

Also in court, a St George’s teenager denied possessing cannabis, cocaine and a digital scale.

Calvin Wilson, 16, allegedly had the drugs and drug equipment in his possession in St George’s on September 27 last year.

Mr Tokunbo granted $2,000 bail with a like surety on the condition that Mr Wilson abide by a 8pm to 6am curfew.

Mr Wilson elected to be tried in Magistrates’ Court and a trial date was set for June 8.
