Two men deny GBH driving offences

A Pembroke man accused of causing grievous bodily harm to another man by driving while impaired was given bail when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Donahue Sousa, 24, denied injuring Matthew Renaud by driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs on February 21. The alleged offence occurred on Middle Road, Devonshire.

Mr Sousa also denied the alternative charge of causing grievous bodily harm by driving without due care and attention.

Furthermore, he pleaded not guilty to driving while impaired and the alternative charge of failing to provide a sample of breath, as well as driving while disqualified.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted $5,000 bail with a like surety and adjourned the matter to June 25 for mention.

In a separate matter, a 22-year-old Warwick man also denied causing grievous bodily harm by driving without due care and attention.

Jahvon Thomas allegedly injured Gilberto De Oliveira in Paget on January 7.

Mr Tokunbo granted $3,000 bail and adjourned the matter to July 3 for mention.
