Man fined for possessing cannabis resin
A 37-year-old Sandys man has been fined $1,000 for possessing 1.9g of cannabis resin.
Appearing in Magistrates’ Court this morning, Lionel Eugene Jones admitted having the controlled drug in his possession in Sandys on July 11 last year.
The court heard that police officers stopped and searched Jones, and found a plastic package containing plant material on his person.
He was taken to Somerset Police Station and it was later determined that the plant material was cannabis resin.
Jones told the court that he had attended a funeral that day and that the drugs were for his personal use.
Magistrate Archibald Warner handed him a $1,000 fine.
