Trio charged with possessing cocaine
A trio of defendants were this morning charged in Magistrates’ Court with possessing cocaine with intent to supply.
Daymon Simmons, 40, and Erica Young, 37, both from Sandys, were both charged possessing cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply while in an increased penalty zone in Sandys on August 27 last year.
They further denied knowingly allowing the use of drugs on a premises and possessing cannabis resin and drug equipment, specifically a grinder.
Mr Simmons was also charged alongside another man, 31-year-old Pembroke resident Sabian Hayward, with possessing cannabis, cannabis resin and cocaine with intent to supply on the same date, but in a different location in Sandys.
None of the three defendants were required to enter pleas because the charges are indictable and must be heard by the Supreme Court.
Mr Warner released all three on $25,000 bail with a surety and ordered that they surrender their travel documents.
Also appearing before the courts was Fredricka Russell, 34, who admitted driving while impaired and giving police false information.
The court had heard that at around 2.19am on August 15, Police travelling south on Burnaby Street saw a car, driven by Russell, go through a red light without stopping and over a pedestrian crossing while people were attempting to cross the street.
When stopped she admitted drinking, but gave the police her mother’s name and date of birth instead of her own. She was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired and, while being processed, her actual name was discovered.
Mr Warner fined Russell $300 for giving police false information and another $1,500 for driving while impaired, banning her from driving all vehicles for 18 months.
