Southampton man admits theft from Sears

A Southampton man has been given 12 months’ probation and ordered to pay restitution for stealing from Sears.

Anthony Outerbridge, 54, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court this morning to stealing a tool kit worth $45 on February 6 last year.

The court heard that he was seen on CCTV placing an item under his jacket and leaving the store without paying.

Staff discovered that a tool kit was missing and police officers identified Outerbridge from the footage.

Officers attended his Southampton residence and he admitted the theft, but the tool kit was not recovered.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered Outerbridge do 12 months’ probation on the condition that he pay $45 in restitution to Sears.

He was also ordered to abstain from the use of alcohol or illegal drugs, submit to random drug testing in addition to any other programme deemed necessary and make weekly payments on an outstanding fine.
