Man denies burglary spree

A man has denied a three-week crime spree during in which he is alleged to have broken into homes, violently resisted arrest and then escaped from custody.

Jamiko Bean pleaded not guilty to seven burglaries, prowling and trespassing when he appeared in Supreme Court arraignments this morning.

It is alleged that the 34-year-old broke into five properties in Southampton and Pembroke between September 29 and October 12 before assaulting PC Denise Downey on October 12.

He is then accused of committing two further burglaries before attacking Antoine Seymour on October 14 and then prowling around a property.

On the same day Mr Bean is said to have violently resisted arrest and threatened PC Milen Simons saying “I am going to f*** your life up”.

Two days later he is alleged to have escaped from lawful custody, stolen a motorbike and trespassed in a Warwick home.

Mr Bean denied all the charges and was remanded in custody. He will return to court in two weeks when his case will be mentioned again.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, Jasmine Smith, 24, denied causing grievous bodily harm to Atiyyah Outerbridge with intent.

She was released on bail and will stand trial on May 9.
