Sandys teen fined for Cup Match fight
A teenager was fined $2,000 after he admitted his involvement in a brawl during Cup Match.
The court heard on Friday that Cameron Clacker, 17, punched and kicked another man and brandished a chair during the fight at St George’s Cricket Club on the second day of Cup Match.
Defence lawyer Saul Dismont told Magistrates’ Court that his client had expressed remorse over the incident.
He added: “He didn’t throw any bottles and, while he accepts that he picked up a chair, he didn’t hit anybody with it.
“He is very sorry for what transpired that day.”
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo heard that a security officer heard shouting from bleachers at the east end of the cricket club just after 6pm.
The security guard investigated and saw a scuffle, bottles being thrown and spectators fleeing the area.
Police were called and officers arrested several people and took CCTV footage for examination.
Clacker, from Sandys, was subsequently identified as one of the people involved in the disturbance.
He pleaded guilty to a charge of affray.
Zachary Fox, 19, also appeared in court charged in connection with the same incident.
He pleaded not guilty and is expected to appear in court again on Wednesday.
