A man who admitted using offensive words towards police officers during Cup Match was yesterday fined a total of $1,000.

Magistrates’ Court heard the officers were on duty just before 7pm on August 4 when they saw a man restraining Dominique Inchcup-Hill.

The officers approached the men and asked Inchcup-Hill what was going on.

He shouted: “Police, f*** you. Get the f*** out of here.”

When the officers handcuffed him, he continued to shout, and told them: “Get your hands off me or I will f*** you up.”

He also threatened to spit in the officer’s face.

Inchcup-Hill, 20, from Southampton, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court to two charges of using offensive words at the St George’s Cricket Club on the second day of the match.

The defendant apologised to the court and said he and a friend had been “skylarking” when they were approached by police.

Inchcup-Hill added that he had been drinking.

He told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo: “I’m not denying the fact that I said that, and I take responsibility for it.

“I was under the influence, but that is no excuse.”

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo told Inchcup-Hill that the behaviour described to the court was not acceptable and fined him $500 on each of the two charges.
