Man jailed for importing cannabis
A 31-year-old Pembroke man has been jailed for two years for importing more than $100,000 worth of marijuana.
Andrew Gilbert was sentenced by Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo this morning.
In September, Gilbert pleaded guilty to importing 2,231 grams of cannabis with an estimated street value of $111,555.
The drugs were discovered in eight compressed bundles in one of his bags on July 8 after Gilbert returned to Bermuda from New York.
Gilbert told court: “I made a bad decision. I was at a bad time in my life.”
Mr Tokunbo told Gilbert: “You gambled and lost.”
