An early hours brawl in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant ended in a court appearance for an 18-year-old man.

Kyshea Burgess, from Southampton, pleaded guilty to taking part in a fight outside Paget’s Ice Queen.

Magistrates’ Court heard that police were called to a fight involving six men at 4am.

The defendant was seen to swing a helmet at another man and refused to stop when ordered by police.

The court heard Burgess kicked out and shouted when police tried to arrest him and they pepper-sprayed the teenager to subdue him.

The other five men fled the scene.

Burgess later admitted in a police interview that he took part in the fight.

The incident took place on July 31.

Paul Wilson, for the defence, asked if Burgess could have an existing probation order, due to end in January, extended.

The case was adjourned until December 14 and Burgess was released on $1,000 bail.
