‘Hungry’ man caught stealing meat
A social inquiry report was ordered for a man who was caught stealing meat.
David Ray Jr, 51, pleaded guilty to stealing $23.68 worth of food from Lindo’s Market in Devonshire.
Magistrates’ Court heard that a customer at the store spotted Ray fill a container with cooked chicken before he left the store.
The customer alerted the store manager and a security officer stopped Ray as he drove out of the car park.
Ray admitted the theft when questioned and he was later arrested by police.
The incident happened on December 5 last year.
Ray, from Pembroke, apologised to the court. He added: “I’ve been struggling; I don’t have a job and at the time I was hungry.”
Magistrate Tyrone Chin released Ray on $500 bail and adjourned the case until March 26.
