A man who crashed his motorcycle was almost three times the legal alcohol limit, Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday.

Kevin Lightbourne, 59, pleaded guilty to drink driving.

The court heard that police and an ambulance attended a single-vehicle collision on Inglewood Lane in Paget.

Lightbourne was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and treated for injuries to his hands and legs.

He told police that he had hit the sidewalk.

Lightbourne added: “I’ve been drinking all day.”

Police took a sample of his blood to test for alcohol.

The test showed that Lightbourne had 265 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80mg/100ml.

The incident took place on June 27.

Magistrate Tyrone Chin fined Lightbourne, from Warwick, $1,500 and banned him from the roads for 18 months.

He also ordered Lightbourne to attend a minimum of three DUI Court sessions.
