Man accused of setting house on fire

A man was charged today with setting fire to house.

Calvin Trott, 49, was charged in Magistrates’ Court with setting fire to a home in Smith’s and destruction of the homeowner’s car.

The offences are alleged to have happened on February 28.

The court heard that the total cost of damages was about $19,000.

Mr Trott did not enter a plea as the case must be heard in the Supreme Court.

Senior magistrate Juan Wolffe released Mr Trott, from Smiths, on $5,000 bail and adjourned the case to the Supreme Court on May 1.

He also ordered Mr Trott to have no contact with the alleged victim.
