Man fined for possession of cocaine
A man who led police on a chase through Warwick was fined for possession of cocaine.
Arndell Lightbourne, 42, pleaded guilty to possessing 1.29 grammes of the controlled drug.
Magistrates’ Court heard that police on Middle Road in Warwick noticed Lightbourne riding an unlicensed motorcycle just after 11am on October 20 last year.
Police turned on their lights to signal him to stop, but he refused and led the officers in a chase on to Purvis Estate Road.
The officers saw Lightbourne ditch the bike in a nearby field and run away.
Officers chased him and caught him in a yard.
The police later searched the motorcycle and found a paper twist containing a brown, powdery substance.
Lightbourne was asked what the substance was.
He told police: “I don’t know. I just found it.”
The twist was later found to contain 1.29 grammes of 18 per cent cocaine.
Magistrate Maxanne Anderson fined Lightbourne $750 and ordered him to pay by the end of the day.
