Man fined and banned after he admits drink driving

A man was banned from the roads for 18 months and fined after he admitted a drink driving car crash.

Magistrates’ Court heard that Daniel Baker’s car crashed into a wall and police attended.

Officers found a car with “extensive damage” and a demolished section of wall.

Baker admitted he was the owner and driver of the car and that he had been drinking before he got behind the wheel.

He was arrested and later refused to take a breath test at Hamilton Police Station.

The incident happened at the junction of Orange Valley Road and Middle Road in Devonshire in the early hours of November 28.

Prosecutors charged Baker with refusal to take a breath test, but dropped the charge after he pleaded guilty to drink driving.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered Baker to pay a $1,000 fine by March 4 in addition to the ban.
