Two fined for curfew breaches

Two men were fined in Magistrates’ Court today for breaching curfew.

Joel Baw, 38, of Paget admitted breaking curfew at 9.55pm on May 1 on South Road, Warwick Parish.

The court heard how patrol police noticed a bike riding during curfew, which was then set between 8pm to 5am.

Police drove after the motorcyclist who, after a brief chase, stopped. He apologised to a female officer.

He was fined $1,500.

Matthew Renaud, 35, of Paget, pleaded guilty to breaking curfew on April 10 on South Road, Paget, 36 minutes after the start of curfew which was then set at 11pm.

He said that he had attended his nephew’s birthday party and had lost track of the time. He was fined $1,500.
