Man fined for drug equipment possession
A 44-year-old man was fined $2,000 yesterday after he was found with two pieces of drug equipment.
Michael Clemans admitted possession of a scale and grinder for the misuse of drugs.
Magistrates’ Court heard that police arrested Clemans, from Pembroke, on Front Street after they found there were several warrants for his arrest.
Officers searched him and found a scale and a red grinder, as well as sealed bags containing a plant-like material.
Clemans did not explain what the items were when questioned.
The items were sent to a government laboratory, which found traces of THC, the psychoactive element of cannabis, inside the grinder and on the scale.
The incident happened on March 1 last year.
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined Clemans $1,000 on each charge and ordered him to pay by March 4.
