Two men were taken off the roads for 18 months yesterday after admitting traffic offences.

Anthony Brangman, 53, of Pembroke, pleaded guilty to drink-driving on August 6 in Warwick when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

According to Shaunte Simons-Fox, for the Crown, officers were on patrol on Middle Road when they noticed Brangman driving over the centre line. They decided to follow him until he nearly hit the sidewalk.

They pulled Brangman over and noticed that his eyes were glazed and his speech was slurred. Brangman admitted to having a few drinks before getting behind the wheel.

He was then taken to Hamilton Police Station, where a breathalyser test revealed that he had between 160mg and 168mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. The legal limit for driving is 80mg of alcohol.

Kyree Wolffe, 29, of Hamilton Parish, pleaded guilty to driving dangerously on North Shore Road on April 2.

The court was told that Wolffe overtook several cars, cut a roundabout short and briefly went against the correct flow of traffic on his bike.

Wolffe disagreed with some of the evidence read out in court, but accepted that he was driving dangerously.

In addition to banning both men from Bermuda’s roads for 18 months, senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson fined Brangman $1,500 and Wolffe $1,000. She gave Brangman until October 13 to pay, but ordered that Wolffe pay his fine immediately.
