A 23-year-old man who tried to ride away from police after a collision was taken off the road for 18 months last week after pleading guilty to drink-driving.

Christopher Araujo, of Smiths, appeared in Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and admitted to drink-driving in Warwick on July 28.

According to Cindy Clarke, for the Crown, police attended a two-vehicle collision on South Road around 7.30pm. The accident involved a bike and car.

When officers tried to speak to Araujo, he attempted to ride away on his bike.

Officers noticed that his eyes were glazed and that he was unsteady on his feet.

In addition to banning Araujo for 18 months, magistrate Craig Attridge ordered that he pay a $1,200 fine. He was given until September 30 to pay the fine.
