Magistrate bans man from roads for six months

A 52-year-old man was banned from the roads for six months yesterday after pleading guilty to driving without due care and attention.
Jason Fostine-DeSilva, of Smith’s, appeared in Magistrates’ Court and admitted to committing the offence on March 28 in Smith’s.
According to Cindy Clarke, for the Crown, Fostine-DeSilva tried to overtake a car on South Road when he collided with a taxi heading in the opposite direction.
Fostine-DeSilva became trapped inside his car and had to be removed by the emergency services. He sustained severe leg injuries.
In addition to being disqualified for six months, senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson fined Fostine-DeSilva $1,000. He was given until October 26 to pay the fine.
