A motorcyclist stopped for speeding was banned from the roads for 18 months after pleading guilty to drink-driving.

Malcolm Symonds, 60, from Pembroke, admitted the offence when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Prosecutor Gardener-Brown said that Symonds was speeding on his motorbike near the junction of Middle Road and Belvedere Road in Devonshire on September 28.

He was stopped by police who smelt alcohol on his breath and saw that he was unsteady on his feet.

Symonds, who admitted to drinking before getting on his bike, was also fined $1,200 by magistrate Craig Attridge.
