Driver of van which hit motorcyclist fined $800
A man who caused an accident in Hamilton that left a motorcyclist hospitalised was fined $800.
Howard Chamberlain, 42, from Pembroke, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that on April 19, Chamberlain tried to turn right from Dundonald Street on to Court Street in his van, when he hit the rider who was heading in the other direction.
The motorcyclist, who was not named in court, required surgery and suffered bruising and vision problems from the crash.
In addition to the fine, Chamberlain had ten points added to his licence.
