Theft of $77 drill lands man with six months in prison
A man who stole a drill valued at $77 was jailed for six months after admitting the theft when he appeared in court.
Raymond Robinson, 59, from Pembroke, appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday where he admitted stealing the drill from Gorham’s.
The court heard that on Saturday, Robinson stuffed the drill inside his shirt and left the store without paying.
After Gorham’s staff filed a police report, officers spotted Robinson with the drill on King Street.
Robinson, who has convictions for similar offences, was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine before being released from police custody, or spend six months behind bars.
He was unable to pay the fine and was sentenced to six months in prison.
