A 24-year-old man pleaded guilty to punching a police officer while being arrested.

Tyler Dill, from St George’s, initially denied assaulting the officer but changed his plea when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that police spoke with Dill at the Ice Queen restaurant in October last year, in connection with an unrelated matter.

Dill was uncooperative with the officers and struck one while being arrested.

The officer later attended Kind Edward VII Memorial Hospital as a result of the assault.

Magistrate Tyrone Chin ordered that court staff conduct a social inquiry report for Dill, adjourned his case to April 12 for sentencing.
