Drink-driver was stopped for speeding

Magistrates' Court

A man who was stopped by police in Paget has been banned from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

Neil Sheppard, 32, from St George’s, pleaded guilty to drink-driving when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

The court heard that on March 4 officers saw Sheppard speeding on Berry Hill Road and stopped him.

They then noticed that he was unsteady on his feet while placing his bike on its stand and they also smelt alcohol on his breath.

Sheppard was taken to Hamilton Police Station, where a breath test revealed 123 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his blood. The legal limit for driving in Bermuda is 80mg/100ml.

In addition to the ban, Sheppard was fined $1,500.
