Man admits having two knives
A man who had two weapons in his backpack will be sentenced in Magistrates’ Court next month.
Zhion Francis, 20, from St George’s, admitted to having a folding and a fixed knife, both of which had blades longer than three inches, when he appeared in court this morning.
He chose to keep his case in Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that in August 2022, police stopped Francis on Kindley Field Road in connection with an unrelated matter.
Officers found the knives while looking through his bag and asked Francis why he had them, to which he responded: “For protection.”
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered that court staff write a social inquiry report for Francis and adjourned the case to May 31 for sentencing.
He was released on $2,000 bail until that time.
