Ban for woman who refused blood-alcohol test

A woman who refused to have her blood alcohol level tested after crashing her motorbike has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

Holly Stephens, 25, from Pembroke, admitted the offence when she appeared in Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that Stephens was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after the crash, near Mount Hill Road in June 2020. She suffered facial injuries and was unable to take a breathalyser.

She declined to provide blood samples to officers at the hospital, claiming that she was afraid of needles, but admitted to drinking before getting on her bike.

In addition to the ban, Stephens was fined $1,500.
